VISION

To be an inclusive organization that connects, enriches, and inspires women to advance the quality of life in Weston and our surrounding communities.

MISSION

The Weston Women's League, founded in 1972, is a non-profit, philanthropic organization and diverse group of women dedicated to volunteering and raising funds in support of charitable, educational and community needs in Weston and surrounding towns.

VALUES

The Weston Women’s League accomplishes its mission through the action of women who share the same organizational values and goals.

We value continuous learning and believe in providing opportunities for personal growth and volunteering in a supportive environment. We value, respect, and believe in every member’s diverse backgrounds, opinions, talents, and skills. We value service and believe that every member can make a difference in our community through voluntarism, community leadership, and advocacy. We value teamwork and believe by partnering with external organizations we can have a great impact on our community.

HISTORY

The Weston Women’s League, formerly the Weston Young Woman’s Club (“WYWC”), was founded to promote a sense of community through dedication to civic services, fundraising and social/cultural activities. Organized in 1972 by Karin Giannitti and a core of Weston women who recognized these needs, WYWC grew to be a keystone of philanthropic and educational endeavors in Weston.

In 1973, regular meetings were held at Emmanuel Church and funds had already been raised and donated to several local charities. WYWC joined the Connecticut State Federation of Women’s Leagues in 1974 and operated according to its guidelines until 1979 when the membership voted to become an independent entity.

In June 2003, the club decided to change its name to the Weston Women’s League (“WWL” or the “League”) to better reflect its membership and its mission. As an active force in Weston life, WWL reflects the ever-changing complexion of its community. This social consciousness is evident in the breadth of activities and services initiated by WWL members whose talent and commitment create the backbone of this organization.

We gratefully acknowledge the accomplishments of our predecessors and affirm our continuing support of their purpose.
